It was a whirlwind of fun and learning. She jumped into her new classroom with excitement, met new friends, and still had the joy of seeing her familiar faces from last year. Each morning felt like a small victory — getting dressed, packing lunches, tying shoes (sometimes twice), and making it to school on time every single day. Car line? Conquered.
But what no one saw — what her teachers and classmates didn’t know — was the behind-the-scenes juggling act. While she smiled confidently walking into class, I was balancing drop-offs and quick potty breaks, snack demands, and toddler negotiations with her little sister.
And one morning? One morning, I forgot to wash her jacket.
So there she went, brave and bright-eyed, with little stains on her sleeve, she tried to cover up with crossed arms and a shy smile. I noticed. I felt that little pinch of mom guilt — but she never complained. She just kept going, as kids so wonderfully do.
So yes, we made it. Through the chaos and the sweetness, the checklists and the unwashed jackets — we made it through Week One. Here's to many more weeks of learning, growing, and giving ourselves a little grace along the way.
